Winning Big for a Cause

Youth team members Izabela, Colin, and Ava with WMCD's prizes.

On August 21st, we were lucky enough to benefit from the Western Massachusetts Quarter Auction for the second year in a row! The Western MA Quarter Auction hosts an event on the third Wednesday of each month in the Chicopee Amvets Post, and benefits a different non-profit organization each time, as a way to give nonprofits an opportunity to get their word out and raise some easy money!

If you haven’t heard of a quarter auction before, it’s a half-auction, half-raffle style event where you can win big prizes for one dollar or less! The rules are simple: based on the value of the item being auctioned off, the vendor announces how many quarters (typically one to four) you need to place in the middle of the table to enter for the prize. For each paddle you want to bid on, you simply put that number of quarters in the middle of the table, and then they call a number - and you hope it’s the one on your paddle!

WMCD volunteers arrived early to the auction to get the best seats in the house!

Just in time for the end of summer, we auctioned off two items - a fireplace and a grill, along with other vendors, such as Be-You Boutique, Epicure, Wendy’s Teas & Tumblers, and more, that auctioned off their own products!

We’ve loved benefitting from this event, not only because it allows us to pursue our vision for our organization, but because the community over at Western MA Quarter Auction is absolutely incredible. The high energy, the willingness to donate to charitable causes, and the kindness and compassion both the organizers and attendees of the event have shown us is truly heartwarming.

But not to fret! If you missed out on the fun, we have an even bigger opportunity coming up in October. Our second annual WMCD Quarter Auction is on October 27 at 2:00pm in Westfield! Join us at the East Mountain Country Club for an afternoon of winning big for a cause. Click the announcement bar at the top of your screen for all the details!
